Tips for your new year's eve email

  • Put the format up front: set menu or à la carte, seating times, and whether there is music or a countdown. Guests choose based on those details.
  • State the price per person and say whether drinks, tax and gratuity are included, plus any deposit.
  • Say what happens at midnight, whether that is a toast, music or simply dinner. Do not promise what you cannot deliver.
  • Add a short line reminding guests to plan a safe ride home. It is considerate, and it fits the night.
  • If you serve alcohol, state that guests must be 21 or older, and mention a non-alcoholic option.
  • Send in early December, then a last call as seats run low. Only say seats are running out if it is true.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Waiting until the last week. By then many guests have already made plans.
  • Leaving out the price or what it includes.
  • Sending a vague 'special night' message with no times, menu or format.

FAQ

Restaurant New Year'S Eve Email questions

When should I send a New Year's Eve email for my restaurant?

In early to mid-December, with a reminder after Christmas and a last call in the final days if seats remain.

What should a New Year's Eve dinner email include?

The event name, date and start time, the format and price per person, what is included, how to reserve, any deposit, and your postal address and unsubscribe link in the footer.

Should I require a deposit for New Year's Eve reservations?

Many restaurants do, because the night is in high demand and no-shows are costly. If you require one, state the amount and cancellation terms before guests book.

How do I promote New Year's Eve responsibly if I serve alcohol?

State that guests must be 21 or older, avoid language that pushes heavy drinking, feature food and non-alcoholic options, and add a reminder to plan a safe ride home.
