Tips for your valentine's day email

  • Send early. Valentine's Day and the weekend around it are popular nights, and guests plan ahead.
  • State the format: set menu or à la carte, seating times, and the price per person if it is fixed.
  • If February 14 falls midweek, say which nights you are taking reservations, including the weekend before or after.
  • Put the deposit and cancellation policy in the email, before the guest books.
  • Welcome everyone. 'Bring someone you love' includes friends, families and solo diners, where 'dinner for two' does not.
  • Send a reminder about a week out to guests who have not booked, using the same link.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Waiting until the week of. By then many guests have already made plans.
  • Leaving out whether there is a set menu and what it costs.
  • Hiding the deposit or cancellation policy until after the guest has booked.

Matching SMS

FAQ

Restaurant Valentine'S Day Email questions

When should I send a Valentine's Day email for my restaurant?

Three to four weeks ahead, then a reminder about a week before to guests who have not booked. If you take reservations for the nights around February 14, name those dates.

What should a Valentine's Day restaurant email include?

The date or dates you are taking reservations, the format (set menu or à la carte) and price if fixed, how to book, your deposit or cancellation policy, and your postal address and unsubscribe link.

Should I offer a prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day?

Many restaurants do, because it simplifies the kitchen and sets expectations. If you do, state the price, the courses and the seating times in the email.

Should I take deposits for Valentine's Day reservations?

Some restaurants do to reduce no-shows. If you ask for one, state the amount and your cancellation policy in the email so guests know before they book.
