An estimate from your own numbers, not a promise. Track real bookings with UTM links or a code per email.

Revenue minus platform cost excludes food, labor, discounts, and other operating costs. Yearly revenue assumes the same results for 12 months.

How the estimate works

Simple arithmetic, nothing hidden. “Revenue” is what guests spend, before food and labor costs, so treat the result as an upper bound.

  1. clicks = subscribers × emails per month × click rate
  2. bookings = clicks × share of clickers who book or order
  3. revenue = bookings × average spend
  4. revenue per $1 = revenue ÷ monthly platform cost
  5. orders to cover the platform = monthly platform cost ÷ average spend

FAQ

ROI questions

What is a realistic ROI for restaurant email marketing?

It depends on your list, your check size and how often guests act on your emails, which is why this calculator uses your numbers. Treat any single headline ROI figure with caution: they usually come from a vendor's own customers and are rarely restaurant-specific.

What click rate should I use?

If you have sent emails before, use your own average from the last few months. If not, start with the published benchmarks: 2.0% for restaurant, food and beverage in Campaign Monitor's 2022 report, and 2.15% for Hospitality & Food Services in Brevo's 2026 benchmark.

How do I measure the real return?

Add UTM tags to the links in each email so your booking or ordering system and analytics can attribute visits, or use a unique code per email. Compare bookings with a similar week without an email.

Does the calculator include the cost of my time?

No. Add it to the monthly cost if you want a stricter number: for example, two hours a month at your hourly rate plus your platform plan.
