Goal
Get guests curious enough to book and order from the new menu.
When
A few days before the new menu starts so guests can plan, and again, shorter, on launch day. If a regular favorite is leaving the menu, say so in the first email.

Tips for your new menu announcement

  • Name two or three dishes, not the whole menu. The email is the teaser; your menu page does the rest.
  • Describe a dish by what is on the plate, such as ingredients and how it is cooked, rather than with adjectives like "delicious".
  • Send a few days before launch and a shorter reminder on the day. Guests can't plan around a menu they haven't heard about.
  • Tell regulars what is leaving. Someone whose favorite dish is gone would rather hear it from you than find out at the table.
  • Link to a current menu page that reads well on a phone, not an old file or a photo of a printed menu.
  • Use your own photo of the hero dish at the top of the email.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Linking to the old menu because the new one isn't posted yet. Publish the page first, then send.
  • Listing prices or dishes that may still change. Leave them out until they're final.
  • Describing every dish. The email turns into the menu, and nobody reads it.

FAQ

Restaurant New Menu Announcement Email questions

How do I announce a new menu to restaurant customers?

Send an email with the launch date, one hero dish with a short description, a few more highlights and a button to the full menu. Add a shorter reminder on launch day.

How many dishes should a new menu email feature?

Two or three is enough. Feature one dish in detail and list a few others, then let the menu page carry the rest.

When should I send a new menu announcement?

A few days before the menu starts, so guests can plan a visit, and again on launch day. If a popular dish is leaving, mention it in the first email.

Should I include prices in the new menu email?

Only if they are final. If a price might change, leave it out of the email and let the menu page show current prices.
